The Sailplanes are Stacey Hine (guitar/vocals), Tim Webster (guitar/vocals) and Yola Rodowicz (drums). In 2007 we recorded and self-released the mini-album ‘A second, or ten years later’, a record described as ‘awesome, 8/10’ by Drowned In Sound and ‘a gem’ by This Is Fake DIY. The record was characterised by short, sharp, claustrophobic art-rock that was as challenging as it was innovative.
The Sailplanes moved to Berlin shortly afterwards and played a series of shows there. Following our return to London in late 2008, we have been writing and recording songs for our second album. Toning down the abrasive sounds, and concentrating more on playing our fucking instruments, the new recordings aim to give our audience a chance to revel in the details.
The Mild Peril EP was recorded with bassist Mihai Cucos, who has since left the band to travel, being replaced by John Scott. It contains an instrumental version of Copenhagen Inspires as well as a reworking of Photograph the Past from our first album.
